Praying Prayerfully

In this message, I examine prayer as a means of worship and explain what it means to truly pray – to “prayerfully pray” – and how to lay hold of yourself to pray properly, and to lay hold of God in your praying.

7 Mile Bike Ride

On Saturday evening I enjoyed a wonderful 7 mile bike ride down a beautiful bike trail through the woods in North Carolina with my Queen. If you look close enough at the photo below you may see two deer in the background! But the best dear is at my side

Presently, we are en route from North Carolina to Grand Rapids. Thanks for praying us through another conference.

Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina

We thoroughly enjoyed our Lord’s Day yesterday at Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. The people were warm, attentive, hungry, and appreciative. I preached in the morning on “The Spirit’s Role on Assurance of Salvation,” in the evening on “Assurance Means No Separation from Christ,” and for the Sunday School hour on “Assurance: How Do You Lose It and Renew It?”

I very much enjoyed fellowshipping with Rev. Matt Holst, the senior pastor of Shiloh (middle of photo 1), and Rev Gavin Beers, pastor in the Free Church (Continuing) (right on photo 1). We also spent a few edifying hours fellowshipping over dinner in the afternoon in the gracious Kirby home with several couples, including our good friends, Rev. Irfon Hughes (on my left in photo 2) and his wife Ann, and Kevin and Susan Heaphy (sitting across the table from Mary on photo 2).

The Lord God was in our midst on this blessed Lord’s Day.
