Update from Trichelle Beeke

Here is an update from my niece about her cancer treatments. Thanks for praying!

Dear Family and Friends,

Today I had my fourth to last treatment of Taxol. The countdown is on! I have one more cycle left which means three more weeks of Taxol (chemo). Then I have another 16 rounds of Herceptin. Herceptin is given every three weeks for a year. But thankfully Herceptin has minimal side effects and doesn’t take very long to drip in (I.V.). Radiation is to start approximately in April for 25 days.

Reasons for thanksgiving: my immunity numbers were the highest yet—2.3! Praise God for that. I haven’t been having any strange reactions to the drugs during chemo lately because they changed around the mixture that they have been giving. So that is a great relief and answer to prayer (for me as well as for Dave!). So far I have been kept sick-free from flus and colds even though they are definitely around in our house!

Prayer Requests: my fingers have been having increasing numbness in the tips which could be permanent. They are also cracking and bleeding as well. Please pray that they will heal and that the numbness won’t be permanent. Also, pray that the MUGA scan I will be having on Feb. 24 will show that the chemo/Herceptin has not been damaging my heart. Prayer that my immunity levels will continue to rise so that I may finish my chemo on schedule.

We are so thankful for the many more cards, prayers, meals, notes, baby-sitting, and baking that we have been receiving. They have been a great blessing to us as a family. Thank you so much for all of them.

We give God the glory that things have been going so well. That we can do things as a family yet and enjoy God`s creation with the beautiful (but cold) weather we have been having.

2 Corinthians 1:3–4 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Psalm 33:20–22 says, “Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let thy steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in thee.”

Love Dave & Trichelle
